First Grade continued their study on sound and vibration with the help of Mrs. Kelch and some of our band students! The band students played theory instruments by a glass bowl that had saran wrap and salt. The vibrations from the instruments made the salt "dance". Again, this is to show how sound waves make vibrations, and vibrations make things move!

Our Boys Baseball team has been hard at work during their off season-they've built an indoor pitching mound! Players will have the opportunity to use it during open gym sessions throughout the months of March and April. If you're interested in joining the baseball team next season, be sure to join us this spring for open gym!

On Tuesday, January 30th, teachers and students celebrated our 100th Day of School! There was lots of fun to be had as students counted objects, wrote about themselves at 100 years old, and hunted for 100 Rams throughout the building.
We can't wait to see what we learn in the remaining days of the 2023-24 school year!

Our first grade students have been studying a unit on sound. They've discussed sound waves and how those waves spread through a room as sound is made.
Today, Mr. Olson and a group of 8th grade students helped the first grade classes conduct an experiment to create a visual of those sound waves-they loved it!
Shout out to Mrs. Blenck, Mrs. Olino, Mr. Olson, and Ms. Rande for collaborating on this awesome learning experience for students!
If you're a parent of a first grade student, be sure to ask them what they learned in science class today!

On January 11th, seven students were inducted into Rockdale School's National Junior Honor Society. With the support of our previously inducted 8th grade members, they will participate in service projects for throughout the rest of the school year.
At the induction ceremony, the Rockdale NJHS Chapter was presented with a certificate of recognition for the work members did to raise $290.74 for the Salvation Army during their bell ringing event at the beginning of December. Thank you to all who donated!
Congratulations to our newest members! We look forward to seeing the work you do for our community!
